Virgil Holbrook, Jr. was born on November 12, 1927, in Olney, Texas. He was one of eleven siblings born to Virgil S. and Zora Frances Holbrook. He married JoAnn Utley on May 31, 1949. Virgil proudly served his country during WWII in the U.S. Navy. For many years, Virgil worked on drilling rigs in Alaska, Brazil, Odessa, Nocona, and Midland, Texas. After retiring from Parker Drilling he went on to run a successful HVAC business in the Parker County area. His hobbies included working on his farm, tending to his pecan trees and grape vineyard, whittling with the Parker County Woodchippers, and watching his beloved Cowboys play football. From catching huge sharks and barracuda on an offshore rig in Brazil to hauling in halibut and salmon in Alaska, his stories were endless and extremely interesting. He was an honest, humble, wise, kind, patient, and soft spoken man. His strong work ethic, positive outlook on life, respect for and influence on others was unmatched by any. His children and grandchildren are grateful for the wealth of knowledge and values that he passed on to them. His love for his family shone through in all that he did.
JoAnn Utley was born on February 16, 1934 in Jones, Oklahoma. She was one of four children born to William and Lottie Utley. She was a sassy redhead who always spoke her opinion. During her school years in Jones she was an avid basketball and softball player. She was a hairdresser by trade and later worked in the bookstore at Weatherford College for many years. She enjoyed quilting, shopping, being a social butterfly, and telling stories of days gone by and her memories of traveling with Virgil. She had a very sweet heart and loved caring for others, especially her grandchildren. She would never let anyone leave her house hungry or without offering up one of the many treasures in her home to take with them. She was a very kind soul with endless love for her family.
Virgil and JoAnn had a love for one another that was precious, pure, and timeless. They left this world within 37 hours of each other to continue their loving journey together in Heaven.
Virgil and JoAnn are survived by their children, Virgil Keith Holbrook and wife Denise, Judy Bradford and husband Larry, Tammie Huffingham and husband Jonathan; grandchildren, Steve Foster and wife Crystal, Logan Iverson and wife Tracey, Jenson Iverson, Landon Iverson and wife Jenny, Ricky Dale Roden II, and Hanna Roden; great grandchildren, Alice, Ashlyn, Tanner, Ashton, Christopher, Avery, and Landon; JoAnn's brother John W. Utley; special friendships, Billy and Kristie Iverson, Floyd and Helen Hoggins, John Davis; and by numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to their parents, Virgil and JoAnn were preceded in death by their grandson Kyle Wecker in 2013 and by several siblings.

Debby Stevens
I'm a Christian, and I'm a daughter of Allan B. Holbrook, now in heaven. My married name is Debby Stevens.
My parents, Allan and Marie, were devout Christians, and had 10 children. They were both school teachers, but Mom quit teaching at public school after marriage. But both Mom and Dad home-schooled us all - starting when I was in 1st grade - that's when they came to the decision to home-school us. Dad earned an income through being an English teacher here in Traverse City, for man years. Dad started some Bible meetings that took place in the homes of friends of ours and in our own. He was the main teacher in it, and it was in a discoursing style - he would talk about spiritual things with the fathers of the families, each time, and all the children of the families would sit and listen to it all.
