William J. Pesta joined the army when World War I was starting and became a career soldier. After he retired from the service, William married Frances and they had one son, whom they named after William. Their home was in Florida. William died when his son was perhaps in junior high school, then Frances, and Wm Jr. was left orphaned. He is believed to have been raised by Frances's relatives.
