Yesterday, we shared a stunning wedding photo from the 1940s (well, we THINK it's from the 1940s thanks to everyone's detective work) . Today, we honor a couple in a more typical 1940s wedding photo (on the left) alongside a photo at their 50th anniversary.

Isn't this a great photo? West Virginia couple Cpl Rufus Clay Jr. (Cpl. Rufus Clay, Jr.) and Janice A. Hilbert (Janice Adrian Hilbert Clay) married in 1944 during WW II. They were married 55 yrs, 11 months, and 1 day, until Janice's death.

Their generation was called "The Greatest Generation", and saw the Great Depression, World War 2, the Korean Conflict, and the Cold War.

Is there someone from the greatest generation in your family that you want to honor? Join us and share about them.

I have been trying to locate parents/siblings/resting place of my GGG-Grandfather, Albert G. Clay, b NC or VA 1806, later residing in VA & KY. Somervell County, TX 1880 census lists Albert, 2nd wife (Susan Patten Salmons), & her son John Salmons. Cooke County, TX 1880 census lists Albert's son Rufus McCoy Clay & his family. Rufus later moved to OK & OR, but I've lost Albert. I have no beginning or ending for Albert. Can you help? Thanks!
