Dated this fifth day of September, 1877. Family left Adelaide and sailed to Melbourne on the steamer the "South Australian" then to New Zealand on the steamer " Arawata" - October 1877. MAINTENANCE CASE.- Frederick Jones Bidmeade was charged, on the information of his wife, Mary Ann Carey Bidmeade, with having failed to provide his two children, Harold Bidmeade, aged thirteen years, and Constance Bidmeade, aged ten years, with adequate means of maintenance. The Akaroa Mail and Banks Peninsula Advertiser. 24th July 1906. FOUND DEAD. CHRISTCHURCH, July 23. Early this morning a milkman, who has served Mr. F. J. Bidmeade with milk for sometime, made the startling discovery that his customer was lying dead in his house. Mr. Bidmeade is said to have been a native of South Australia, where he was apprenticed as a compositor on the "Advertiser" for some years, before coming to New Zealand. He worked at the Government Printing office at Blenheim, Wellington and the "Press" and "Lyttelton Times" offices.
