Reyna Angélica MarroquÃn (1941–1969) was murdered by her lover Howard B. Elkins shortly after Howard's wife discovered the extramarital affair. She died in 1969 and her body was found in a barrel in 1999, 30 years after the crime.

Viola Jane (Workman) Jarrell Claypool Elkins
Viola Jane Workman was born January 11, 1860 in Boone County, West Virginia to Jasper Workman and Martha (Chambers) Workman. She married first to George Washington "Manna" Jarrell in 1880. They divorced. She married second to John Floyd Claypool. They divorced. She moved to Elgin, Oregon and then to Alaska where she owned a gold mine and was postmistress. Her young daughter Martha Workman Claypool died in 1903 and she became disgusted with Alaska and sailed back to Seattle with the ship pulling behind it a casket with Martha's body in it (to keep it cold). Once they arrived in Seattle, the little girl was embalmed and casketed and placed on a train along with her mother to head back to Boone County, West Virginia for burial. Viola married third to Micager "Cage" Elkins. Viola died October 2, 1934 in Boone County, West Virginia.

Howard Burton Elkins was born on June 20th, 1929 in Brooklyn, New York to Joseph Elkins (1899-1990) and Beatrice Rand (1906-1986). He had a brother named Stuart Elkins (1932-2005).
Howard Elkins grew up in New York City and later served in the US Air Force from January 17, 1946 until his discharge on June 24, 1948. A few years after his discharge, Howard Elkins married Ruth Shapiro in Brooklyn, NY in 1952. Together the couple had a son and a daughter.
Howard Elkins later became the prime suspect in the 1969 murder of Reyna Angélica MarroquÃn in Nassau County, New York. Reyna's body was discovered 30 years later in a 55-gallon drum in the basement crawl space of a house that Elkins once owned. The drum was traced back to Melrose Plastics, a synthetic flower company in which Howard was a part owner.
Reyna was believed to have had an affair with Howard, and it is thought that he murdered her to avoid fathering a child with her. When detectives interviewed Howard and requested his DNA to compare with the fetus found inside MarroquÃn's body, he committed suicide the next day. Post-mortem DNA testing confirmed that Howard was indeed the father of the nine-month-old fetus.
This tragic story has received significant media attention and has been featured in various television episodes, such as The New Detectives, Murder Book, NYPD Blue, Forensic Files (see The Reyna Marroquin Story Unsealed for a detailed report on the crime, the perpetrator, and the victim from Forensic Files), Grave Secrets, and Buried in the Backyard.

Raymond Elkins was a kind caring and straight to the point kind of guy! In his youth, he was one of 13 brothers and sisters! He was the oldest and had the take charge role in the home. He grew up to spend some time in jail before getting his life together and settling down! He married the love of his life, Linda Williams, and had a son,Raymond Lee Elkins 3rd and was a member of AA and NA for 44 years before he passed after a battle with COPD and Covid-19 in 2021! He left behind a son and daughter, a grand daughter Ella-Jeanne Elkins! He was loved by many people and not so loved by just as many! He lived for the newcomer and was proud to help anyone he could to stay clean and sober!

After so many years of floundering in the poole of geneaolgy. Its all coming together. I found that my Elkins line has Patawomeck Indian running in their blood. Oringinally, the famely came to Maryland then went to the Virginias and intermaaried with the Patawomeck indians of the Potomac. Relatives of the Potmac. My Adkins run with the Shawnee and Pekowi thru Adkins and Parker.

Some of my Elkins are in Michigan. Dont know where they are coming from? Probably South somewhere? I have a Helen Elkins. And Richard W Elkins.
