Mrs. Quealey received her education in Ireland before coming to this country at the age of 19. Mrs. Quealey was a member of the Sacred Heart Parish for many years and was also a member of the Holy Rosary Sodality. She was the widow of David Quealey who died in 1956. Her survivors include four sons, David of Portsmouth Navy Yard, Kittery, Maine, John, Joseph and James Quealey, a Lieutenant in Lowell Fire Department, all of Lowell; one daughter, Mrs. Philip (Clare) Dube of Chelmsford; nine grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews, among them Sister Jeanne d'Arc O'Hare, SSJ of Regis College. - The Lowell Sun, Feb. 20, 1986. Obituary for Mrs. Jamie M. (Quealey) Gumb JAMIE M. GUMB LOWELL - Jamie (Quealey) Gumb, lifelong Lowell resident, passed away of metastatic breast cancer on Saturday evening, March 20, 2021 while in the presence of loved ones. She was a graduate of Bishop Guertin High School, received her undergraduate and Master’s Degree from Syracuse University, and from Mass School of Pharmacy. Jamie was driven by a passion to help others and it was clearly reflected in her career. Her first professional job at Merck & Co centered on vaccines. She went on to teach and share her love of biology with students at Lawrence High School and Greater Lowell Tech before following her passion to become a Physician’s Assistant. She worked in orthopedics at Southern New Hampshire Health Solutions in Nashua until her death. The greatest joy of her life was being Addison and William’s mom. Jamie met her beloved husband, Rob, 16 years ago and they started their family in Lowell. She was the best wife and “mummy” that anyone could hope for. She loved summers at Seabrook Beach and taking the kids on winter ski trips. Jamie was fun-loving, intelligent, and an inspiration of how to live life to the fullest for so many. She was the life of the party always, from her college days to her beloved children’s birthdays. Jamie has touched and had a profound impact wherever she went and on whomever she met. She leaves behind the most incredible memories and a community who will carry on her legacy. In addition to her husband, Rob and her children, Addison and William, Jamie is also survived by her parents Charlotte (Peachie) and James Quealey of Lowell, her sister Holly McAnespie and her husband Dan of Lowell and her sister Kerry Ryan and her husband Terry of Westford. Jamie is also survived by her adoring nieces and nephew: Meghan, Hannah, and Molly McAnespie, Matthew, Alexandra, and Emily Ryan and her brother-in-law Chris Gumb of Cambridge. Obituary for Mr. James M. Quealey James M. Quealey Beloved Husband, Father & Grandfather LOWELL- James “Jim” Quealey passed away, surrounded by his family, on January 3, 2023. Jim was the son of David and Margaret (O’Hare) Quealey, born on October 6, 1939, in Dorchester MA. He was the beloved wife of Charlotte “Peachie” (Dowling) Quealey for over 52 years. Growing up in Lowell, he was a member of the Sacred Heart Parish, and later a communicant of the Immaculate Conception Church. In 1965 Jim joined the Lowell Fire Department and rose to the rank of Lieutenant, he was a proud serving member for 39 years, retiring in 2004. When you didn’t find Jim at the firehouse, you could find him playing handball at “The Y” with his lethal corner shot, skiing, or playing golf at Long Meadow Golf Club with his wife, Peachie, to whom he was married for 52 years. Jim and Peachie enjoyed travelling, with Jim’s most memorable trip to his family farm in Ireland, being so proud of his Irish Heritage. In addition to his wife Peachie, Jim is survived by his daughter Holly (Quealey) McAnespie and her husband Dan of Lowell, Kerry (Quealey) Ryan and her husband Terry of Westford, and Son-in-Law Rob Gumb of Hollis, NH. His 8 grandchildren Meghan McAnespie, Hannah McAnespie, Matthew Ryan, Molly McAnespie, Alexandra Ryan, Emily Ryan, Addison Gumb, and William Gumb. Jim is now reunited with his beloved daughter, Jamie (Quealey) Gumb. Jim is also survived by his sister, Claire (Quealey) Dube and her husband Butch and pre-deceased by his brothers, David, John, and Joe Quealey. Mrs. Quealey received her education in Ireland before coming to this country at the age of 19. Mrs. Quealey was a member of the Sacred Heart Parish for many years and was also a member of the Holy Rosary Sodality. She was the widow of David Quealey who died in 1956. Joseph Timothy "Joe" Quealey
LOWELL -- Joseph Timothy Quealey, a resident of Moore Street, passed away on Friday, February 17, 2017, following a brief stay at Wingate of Belvidere. He was 79 years old. Joe was born in Boston on August 5, 1937, a son of the late David and Margaret (O'Hehir) Quealey. He was a graduate of the Sacred Heart Grammar School and Lowell High School, Class of 1956. Following High School, Joe served in the U.S. Army for 2 years, stationed in New Orleans, LA. Joe was a grocer his whole life, having co-owned and operated Quealey's Market on S. Whipple Street with his brother, John. When they sold the market in 1993, Joe went to work for Market Basket at the Stadium Plaza Store. When the Quealey's owned the Market, Joe sponsored a neighborhood softball team that won the 1986 State Championship. Joe was a gentleman. He went about his life in a quiet, unassuming way. Joe was a parishioner of the Sacred Heart Church until its closing. He was also a lifelong member of the Lowell Lodge of Elks. Joe was a classic movie buff, enjoying all of the great movies on the Turner Classic Movie Channel. He enjoyed sweets and never missed an episode of Jeopardy. Joe loved his nieces and nephews tremendously. Surviving Joe are his sister, Clare S. Dube and her husband, Philip R. Dube of Lowell; one brother, James M. Quealey and his wife, Peachie R. Quealey of Lowell; his God Child and niece, Deborah, whom he was especially close to, and his nieces, Katie, Susan, Holly, Kerry, and Jamie; one nephew, Philip; several grandnieces and grandnephews, and many friends. Joe was the brother of the late David Quealey who died January 18, 2015, and John F. Quealey who died October 7, 2016. QUEALEY -- In Lowell, February 17, 2017 at Wingate, Joseph T. Obituary for Mr. James M. Quealey James M. Quealey Beloved Husband, Father & Grandfather LOWELL- James “Jim” Quealey passed away, surrounded by his family, on January 3, 2023. Jim was the son of David and Margaret (O’Hare) Quealey, born on October 6, 1939, in Dorchester MA. He was the beloved wife of Charlotte “Peachie” (Dowling) Quealey for over 52 years. Growing up in Lowell, he was a member of the Sacred Heart Parish, and later a communicant of the Immaculate Conception Church. In 1965 Jim joined the Lowell Fire Department and rose to the rank of Lieutenant, he was a proud serving member for 39 years, retiring in 2004. When you didn’t find Jim at the firehouse, you could find him playing handball at “The Y” with his lethal corner shot, skiing, or playing golf at Long Meadow Golf Club with his wife, Peachie, to whom he was married for 52 years. Jim and Peachie enjoyed travelling, with Jim’s most memorable trip to his family farm in Ireland, being so proud of his Irish Heritage. In addition to his wife Peachie, Jim is survived by his daughter Holly (Quealey) McAnespie and her husband Dan of Lowell, Kerry (Quealey) Ryan and her husband Terry of Westford, and Son-in-Law Rob Gumb of Hollis, NH. His 8 grandchildren Meghan McAnespie, Hannah McAnespie, Matthew Ryan, Molly McAnespie, Alexandra Ryan, Emily Ryan, Addison Gumb, and William Gumb. Jim is now reunited with his beloved daughter, Jamie (Quealey) Gumb. Jim is also survived by his sister, Claire (Quealey) Dube and her husband Butch and pre-deceased by his brothers, David, John, and Joe Quealey. Peachie would like to thank the staff at Bayberry Emerald Court in Tewksbury for all their support in taking good care of Jim while he was a resident. Margaret Quealey of 221 Moore St., Lowell, died yesterday afternoon at St. John's Hospital. She was born in County Clare, Ireland, a daughter of the late John and Susan (Clancy) O'Hare. Mrs. Quealey received her education in Ireland before coming to this country at the age of 19. Mrs. Quealey was a member of the Sacred Heart Parish for many years and was also a member of the Holy Rosary Sodality. She was the widow of David Quealey who died in 1956. Her survivors include four sons, David of Portsmouth Navy Yard, Kittery, Maine, John, Joseph and James Quealey, a Lieutenant in Lowell Fire Department, all of Lowell; one daughter, Mrs. Philip (Clare) Dube of Chelmsford; nine grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews, among them Sister Jeanne d'Arc O'Hare, SSJ of Regis College. - The Lowell Sun, Feb. 20, 1986. LOWELL -- Joseph Timothy Quealey, a resident of Moore Street, passed away on Friday, February 17, 2017, following a brief stay at Wingate of Belvidere. He was 79 years old. Joe was born in Boston on August 5, 1937, a son of the late David and Margaret (O'Hehir) Quealey. He was a graduate of the Sacred Heart Grammar School and Lowell High School, Class of 1956. Following High School, Joe served in the U.S. Army for 2 years, stationed in New Orleans, LA. Joe was a grocer his whole life, having co-owned and operated Quealey's Market on S. Whipple Street with his brother, John. When they sold the market in 1993, Joe went to work for Market Basket at the Stadium Plaza Store. When the Quealey's owned the Market, Joe sponsored a neighborhood softball team that won the 1986 State Championship. Joe was a gentleman. He went about his life in a quiet, unassuming way. Joe was a parishioner of the Sacred Heart Church until its closing. He was also a lifelong member of the Lowell Lodge of Elks. Joe was a classic movie buff, enjoying all of the great movies on the Turner Classic Movie Channel. He enjoyed sweets and never missed an episode of Jeopardy. Joe loved his nieces and nephews tremendously. Surviving Joe are his sister, Clare S. Dube and her husband, Philip R. Dube of Lowell; one brother, James M. Quealey and his wife, Peachie R. Quealey of Lowell; his God Child and niece, Deborah, whom he was especially close to, and his nieces, Katie, Susan, Holly, Kerry, and Jamie; one nephew, Philip; several grandnieces and grandnephews, and many friends. Joe was the brother of the late David Quealey who died January 18, 2015, and John F. Quealey who died October 7, 2016. QUEALEY -- In Lowell, February 17, 2017 at Wingate, Joseph T. Quealey, 79, a resident of the Grove. Family and friends may call at the FAY McCABE FUNERAL HOME, 105 MOORE STREET, LOWELL on WEDNESDAY MORNING from 9 AM until 11 AM.
