Mary Elizabeth (Smith) Lavender was born on April 25, 1846 at Town of Greenfield in Saratoga County, New York United States. She was married to John C. Lavender, and had children Bertha Thressa (Lavender) Chase and Lillian May Lavender. Mary Lavender died at age 72 years old on March 20, 1919 in Gloversville, Fulton County, and was buried in 1919 in Gloversville. My mother was born to Harry C Scrivner and Sarah Howell. The middle child of a family of 13 children. One child, Tabitha dying at birth. Mom came with her family including her parents and 10 siblings from Millers Creek, Kentucky to Kansas in 1910. Two siblings born after arriving in Kansas. The family settled in Fairmont Township, Butler County Kansas near the farms of 2 of Harry's brothers. Mom stayed with her family until her marriage to Roy Ullum. This marriage lasted only about a year. One child was born to them but it was still born. She, then married my dad, Lewis L. Long in 1918. They had 4 sons, Eldon Lee, Lawrence Dale, James Vernon and (me) Hugh P. In 1934 dad had a heat stroke while working in the field and lived as invalid until his death in 1945, mom caring for him the entire time at home. From that time, she worked for many different residents of Potwin, Ks doing housework. After dad's death she continued to live on the family farm (80 acres). This farm was a part of the original homestead of dad's grandfather, John J. Long and it remained in the family until 1974 when mom sold it. At that time, mom now 78 moved to Leoti, Kansas where her 2 sons, Eldon and Vernon lived. She lived there until her death in 1991 at the age of 95 years. Mom can be remembered as being very strong willed, hard working, honest and dedicated. Tender, but did not express affection . If she liked you she would do anything for you, but if anyone did her wrong she was not one to forget or forgive and would tell them off in a heartbeat. She seldom went to church, but she was a christian that read her bible often.

She was married three times, (1) Thomas Lee, (2) Greenfield Larrabee, (3) James Cornish.

Sarah (Larrabee) Fox was my 7th Great Grandmother. She was married to John Fox of New London County, Connecticut. I descend through their son, Benjamin Fox, Sr. (1688-1745)

Joyce M Rorick of Johnstown, Fulton County, NY was born on September 7, 1930, and died at age 80 years old on March 11, 2011.

She married Joseph Edwin Chase of Broadalbin, Fulton County, New York. Aunt Traccy as she was called was an elder sister of my maternal Grandmother, Lillie May (Lavender) Rorick

Josephine (Tuttle) Rorick was born in 1863 in Alexandria, Virginia United States. She was in a relationship with David Daniel Rorick, and had children Sarah "Satie" Rorick and Fred Rorick. Josephine Rorick died at age 56 years old in 1919 at #59 Rose St. in Gloversville, Fulton County, NY, and was buried at Ferndale Cemetery in Johnstown.
