2020 marks 20 years since the inception of AncientFaces. We are the same team who began this community so long ago. Over the years it feels, at least to us, that our family has expanded to include so many. Thank you!

Descendant of the Byzantine Roman Emperor, Nickolas Kanabus (assassinated during the Roman Catholic 4th Crusade on the steps of Hagia Sophia in 1204 A.D.) Henry Kanabus studied with Ed Dorn and Ted Berrigan. The young Poet was significantly influenced by the work of William Carlos Williams, Ezra Pound, and Charles Olsen of The Black Mountain School of Poetry.
Born in post Nazi Germany - in the city of Amberg - in the Bavarian / Bohemian region, Henry emigrated to the United States along with his Parents and 3 sisters. The Kanabus Family lived near Spokane, Washington until Henry was 4 years of age, then moved to Chicago, Illinois.
As a child he read and wrote Science Fiction, influenced by the short stories and novels of Alfred Bester. As a teen he spent every Tuesday at the Art Institute of Chicago instead of attending Lane Technical School. Transfixed by the museum's collections of Van Gogh, Picasso, Bacon, Monet, Modigliani, and exhibits of the Dada and Surrealist Painters.
