Photo Button
Photo Button
Photo button (pin) from about 1903. May depict a SMITH from Lamar County, Texas.

This is a greatly enlarged image of a photo pin from the effects of Isabel Smith
Jetton (1904-1986) of Dallas, Texas, possibly inherited from her mother, Nancy Claudia Price Smith (1875-1951) of Lamar County, Texas.
The photo, measuring less than an inch in diameter, is mounted to a ladies' dress pin (though I suppose that a man could wear one). My very tentative hypothesis is that it may depict Robert Edgar Smith (1878-1935) of Lamar and Wilbarger counties, Texas. However, Robert Edgar Smith had two brothers, Edward Lee and William Harry, and I would greatly appreciate corroboration or
correction of my identification by others who may have other photographs
with which to compare this pin.
Nancy Claudia PRICE, Huntsville Tx Boarding House
Nancy Claudia PRICE, Huntsville Tx Boarding House
In the middle row, second from the viewer's left in a dark dress, is Nancy Claudia Price (later married Smith), my maternal grandmother. Seated to the viewer's far right, in a white or light-colored dress, is Elizabeth "Lizzie" Anne Payne. This was a boarding house group in Huntsville, Texas, about 1895. I believe that the older couple are probably owners of the house and that the young ladies are students at Sam Houston Normal Institute. I know that Smith and Payne attended SHNI together that year.

Can you identify any of the other people?

The Lady Needs a Name
From the effects of Nancy Claudia Price Smith, 1875-1951, Lamar County, Texas.

From the collection of Isabel Smith Jetton of Dallas, Texas(1904-1986), most likely having come from the collection of her mother, Nancy Claudia Price Smith of Lamar County, Texas. The photograph bears no identifying marks as to subject, location or date. If a relative, the lady is most likely from the northeast Texas Biard, Price or Smith families. She may also have been a classmate of Claudia at Sam Houston Normal Institute about 1894-1895.
