Anand was born to Nirmal Gupta via c/section due to congenital hydrocephalous. His care was delayed by the greed and inexperienced neurosurgeons back home as he needed VP/VA shunt, and no one had an UpToDate knowledge of the procedure. The shunt was finally donated by a manufacturer in USA and sent for his care by his uncle in Albany NY. The surgeons upon discovering that the shunt was imported wanted to buy the shunt and suggested that Anand did not need it. The delayed care and led to his parents to look for alternative care.
Eighteen months later the shunt placed in him thus causing a lot of brain damage with little to no hope of recovery.
