1st Softball Team of Pine Grove Community, Dugspur, VA
This is a picture of the first organized softball team in the Pine Grove community of Dugspur, VA. It was taken in the early 1900's. The man in the back row, on far right, is my husband's uncle Plezz Dalton.

Josiah Wesley Showalter & Wife
Josiah Wesley Showalter and his wife, Lois Porch. Josiah Wesley is the son of Josiah Thomas Showalter and Sarah Catherine Vaden Showalter. Josiah (the son) was born 5-7-1869, and died 4-29-1930. He grew up in Pulaski Co. VA (Hiwassee). He was a farmer and a teacher, and attended Milligan College (in TN). Lois, his wife, was born 7-12-1869 in Kirkwood, MO and died 9-21-1958 in Pender Co., NC. They had four children: Daphne, Portia, Lucia, and Eustace Wesley.

Benjamin Winthrop Showalter
A later photo of Benjamin Winthrop Showalter, son of Josiah Thomas Showalter. Benjamin was born 6/10/1875, died 2/9/1940. Grew up in the Snowville area of Pulaski Co., VA.

4 generations in my grandmother's family. Youngest to oldest: Judith Showalter (Sandy), Lura Malinda St. Clair Showalter, Josie Cecil St. Clair, and Malinda Shufflebarger Cecil. This picture was probably taken in or near Loudon Co., VA about 1920.
Samuel Lewis St. Clair
My great-grandfather, Samuel Lewis St. Clair. He was born in 1871, and his parents were Charles Reynolds St. Clair and Mary Ann Boyd.
Lura Malinda St. Clair Showalter
This is my grandmother, Lura Malinda St. Clair Showalter. She was married to William Nathaniel Showalter. She was raised in Loudon Co., VA, and lived in Montgomery Co., VA when she married my granfather. (A few years in Pulaski Co., VA as well.) Her parents were Samuel Lewis St.Clair and Josephine (Josie) Cecil St.Clair.
