Joel Joshua Allen Jeffcoat
Joel was wounded in the war and his hair hsd not yet grown back where it was basically shot off, probably at the battle of Bentonville in NC. On December 30, 1861 in Orangeburg, South Carolina, Joel Joshua Allen Jeffcoat enlisted in the Confederate Army. He became Private J. J. A Jeffcoat of Company D, the 2Oth Regiment South Carolina Volunteers under Captain R V. Donnelly. He first enlisted for 12 months then served for three years as a sergeant.
