2020 marks 20 years since the inception of AncientFaces. We are the same team who began this community so long ago. Over the years it feels, at least to us, that our family has expanded to include so many. Thank you!
Merland C Hutchison
My Grandpa played guitar, he sang alot of old songs like.. you are my sunshine. He always called me Buttercup. He had a home in Buena Park, California & Clearbrook, Mn. His wife was Velma Bell Hutchison. He had 3 Daughters: My Aunt Sandra Hutchison Cook, My Mother Sylvia Jean Hutchison Jackson, and my Aunt Teddy Jane Hutchison Soll. He loved ketchup on his eggs, watching the TV shows Starsky & Hutch, Golden Girls, Punky Brewster, & Austin City Limits. He was handy and could build stuff. He constructed his own trailer long and large enough to haul a whole house full of furniture. He used it for his travels back and forth from his Buena Park, California Home to his Clearbrook, MN home. He loved watching movies like...The King & I. He got a kick out of Yul Brenner when he would say...etc, etc, etc. My Grandpa's name was Merland Charles Hutchison. He disliked his first name. Everyone always called him Hutch or Hutchy. He loved taking walks on his 400 acres of land on his Clearbrook, MN property. He would make me wear a bright orange hat and he would bring his shot gun in case of bear or wolves. He loved gardening and roses. He had a cat named George he was very fond off. He adopted George the cat when he was in MN and brought George back with him to his Buena Park, California home. He had a great sense of humor and also a bad temper. He loved going on drives and visiting family. He was a slow driver and would yell at other drivers that made him mad. He made me a doll cradle when I was nine and I loved it. He worked hard on it and painted it white. It was big enough to hold a real newborn baby. He worked on 747's in San Diego his whole career until he retired. He also owned a home in El Cajon. I spent every weekend pretty much with my Grandparents growing up in Buena Park, Ca. I even stayed with them at the El Cajon home alot and the Clearbrook, Mn home too. It just depended where they were at the time. We watched alot of movies together, old movies. Looked at old family photos. Went to the LA museum. I really miss my Grandpa Hutchy. He was great to me and I loved him alot.
