Frank Kursch was my great grandfather. He was my maternal grandfather's father. My grandfather never knew his father. Frank was in the army and deserted shortly before my grandfather was born in 1918. My great grandmother died of the Spanish Flu the day after giving birth to my grandfather. My grandfather was raised by his maternal grandparents. According to Army records after deserting Frank assumed the name Arthur C Armstrong and and reenlisted under that name. After he was discharged his real identity was discovered and he was prosecuted and went to prison for 6 years. He remarried and had another son with his second wife.
