I love antique photographs. In addition to sharing old photos of my family, I am also going through my collection of "antique store people". They've been sitting in a storage tub in my back room much too long and maybe some of their families will be able to find them here.
If I'm able to identify the people in the photo, I upload it not only to AncientFaces, but also to Ancestry, FamilySearch, and Find-A-Grave. If the person in the picture is a military veteran, the photo also goes on Fold3. I figure that the more places I upload these pictures, the greater the chance that a relative will be able to find them.

2020 marks 20 years since the inception of AncientFaces. We are the same team who began this community so long ago. Over the years it feels, at least to us, that our family has expanded to include so many. Thank you!

September 20, 2007 my father passed away. His wife, Ann Meyers buried him. I have phone the funeral home twice. The second time I phoned I was very rudely instructed to maybe contact his wife! Because, I was adopted because his wife, Ann Meyers refused me at 2 yrs old! Many have no idea what my father gave up for his country and his wife! His jealous wife neglected to mention Ray Meyers had two children! Me and my brother. She failed to mention either of us, but she knew about both of us! She did not know how to find me, but she did know where my older brother was. It is horrible and very insensitive that my brother had to find out our dad died through an aunt that read about dad's passing in the newspaper!
I have had a lot of grief in my life, but none as great as the 2nd time I phone the funeral home to be treated as a Nobody! That's nothing compared to what my dad went through!
Let me tell you what my dad went through!
Ray Sterling Meyers was first married to Donna M Meyers, (Zinsmaster). They had a son together. William Zinsmaster. When their son was about 2 Donna died! Donna parents took William from Ray! Ray met my mother ( Sally Delores Hinsley) Decemberish of 1962. I was conceived December 25th ish. Ray and Sally married May 18, 1963. Ray was stationed on the US Currituck in Imperial Beach California. In August 63 my cousin visited a very pregnant Sally as well as dad.
Sally left Ray when he got shipped out. Her son's appendix burst. Sally also had a secret. She was still married to her previous husband! Ray sent his money home to Sally while on the ship. She used that money to leave him! Ray never saw Sally again.
Ray was contacted 2 years later, while on the Currituck. Sallys first husband phoned Ray. I was in danger of being taken from Sally! Me, the daughter he never got to see! He cried over losing me! His current wife refused me, because I was another woman's child! I was placed into foster care at 5 yrs old. Again, Ray tried to rescue me. Sally stopped that by putting my surname as Mayers instead of Meyers. My dad did take a DNA test in hopes of finding me. Unfortunately , that was in 1996. I had not taken my DNA test yet.
I'm sure by now you can see the grief two women caused! I'm sure you can understand the pain and suffering my brother and I endured! So please, next time someone calls asking about their parent, treat them with respect. You don't know what they have been through!
I was born Daphne Rae Mayers / Meyers
