My grandmother Christina's maiden name was Winter. Her mother's maiden name was Schwabenland. Her parents, Conrad Winter & Catherine Schwabenland came from the Volga River village of Straub and they settled in Kerman, California, had 3 daughters, Marie, Annie, and Christina. They owned vineyards.

Church in the Volga town of Straub, Russia. Many Volga-German immigrants came from this settlement to Fresno, CA.
