2020 marks 20 years since the inception of AncientFaces. We are the same team who began this community so long ago. Over the years it feels, at least to us, that our family has expanded to include so many. Thank you!

My grandfather was one of the most wonderful people I have ever known. He was a God-fearing, southern gentleman who was outgoing and friendly. He was the type of man to walk up to a perfect stranger, and walk away as that person's friend. He rarely cursed, he was honest, and he was the best role-model a child could have. Throughout my childhood, I always looked up to him and could not wait to go fishing or camping with him. We spend many a day fishing on the Brazos River. My grandfather spoke to me on the day he died, which was Veteran's Day 1996. I had just joined the Marine Corps, and he called to wish me a happy Veteran's Day. On that day, he spoke to me about his days in World War II. He told me stories of his fighting days, which was something that he had never done before. His last words to me were "I love you son." He died in his sleep that night, and it broke my heart to lose him. I love and miss my Paw Paw, and think of him every day.
