Adolfo Elijo Balboa, Mexico
Adolfo Elijo Balboa 1851-1916, Tampico, Mexico: Adolfo was the son of Praxedes, Praxedis, or Praxides Balboa. He was born abt 1851 and died 22 Jun 1916. He is buried in the Tampico City Cemetery. In 1885 his occupatiion was an Attorney. He married Catalina Fernandez. They had seven children, all of thier names started with a (B).

Baptism records: Jose Antonio Gutierrez (Bautizo) 1781

Puse los Santos Oleos y Crisma a Jose Antonio Gutierrez, hijo legitiimo de Jose Antonio Gutierrez y de Clara Ximenes. Fueron sus padrinos Francisco Montes y Josefa Zambrano.
Translation:
José Antonio Gutierrez (baptism) 1781
In the Church parish of the Villa of San Fernando, 1 July 1781.
I put the Holy oil and Christen Jose Antonio Gutierrez, son of Jose Antonio Gutierrez and Clara Ximenes legitiimate. Her Godparents Francisco Montes and Josefa Zambrano.
Jose Antonio Miguel died in 1816 by the hands of Indians and was buried in Compo Santo Cemetery. His father died In San Antonio in 1817. The Compo Santo Cemetery was used first in 1808. The ones who were buried there were for the people who first help to Pioneer San Antonio. The names were taken from the San Fernando Cathedral Records.
Soldier under Spanish Monarchy.both Don Jose Antonio Miguel Gutierres and his father Don Juan Jose Antonio Gutierres were soldiers for King Phillip V of Spain. It is believed that they were some of the Soldiers that brought over the Canary Islanders to San Antonio, TX. I was able to find Antonio Gutierrez and Juan Gutierrez serving as soldiers from records in the Briscoe Library.

Jose was the son of Don Jose Antonio Miguel Gutierrez and Dona Maria Josefa Silva from Canary Islands. He was Baptized in the San Fernando Cathedral in San Antonio, Bexar co., TX records # 834, on Jun 1807. His Grandfather was Don Juan Jose Antonio Miguel Gutierrres and Dona Ma. Ana Clara Trinidad Ximenez de Cisneros. In 1816 Jose's father was killed by Indians in San Antonio, Bexar, TX. On 12 Sep. 1853 Jose Antonio appealed to the State of Texas and petitioned that he was a native of Bexar County and a resident Citizen. He stated that he was a married man and head of his family. he stated that he did not leave the State during the Campaign of 1836 and that he did not refuse participation in the war nor did he assist the enemy. Nor did he receive any other grants from foreign Countries or any other government. He states that he has no land and a large family and finds it difficult to maintain a sufficient livelihood. "Wherefore he prays your Hon' Body will pass a bill for his relief granting him a Headright Certificate for one league of labor of land. Being that grant to which he was entitled under the Laws of the Republic and as in duty bound will ever pray. Jose Gutierrez". On 21 Feb 1854 he was granted that land. He later became a large rancher.Jose Antonio Gutierrez, Patent Date:2 Jun 1854, Acres: 2302.50 in District :Bexar County: Atascosa. He was a major contributor to Bexar County. He married Maria Josefa Montoya. Jose Antonio Gutierrez con Ma, Josefa Montoya. (Matrimonio) 1825 19 Julio 1825. Cass a Jose Antonio Gutierrez, soltero hijo legitimo de Jose Antonio Gutierrez y de Josefa Silva, con Ma. Josefa Montoya jija Legitmo de Juan de la Cruz Montoya y Vincente Perez. etc.

Jose Antonio died around the age of 71. He has records in the DRT and Memorandum books there as well in the Bustillo Family papers file. There are many land deed records with his name as well.
