About me:
I am looking to reconnect with my past and link up to my present by seeing who I am related to and how those branches grew from my grandfather Guiseppe Abossida. He Naturalized in Sepetember 22, 1926 at the age of 30, but he never legally changed his name to ABOSSO! There simply is no record of it. But today you can find a rich heritage of family by that name. So...why did that happen, who knows the story, and are there any ties left in Calabria, Italy?
About my family:
I haven't shared details about my family.

Josephine Capalbo
Josephine Abosso as many of us remember! And her mother Lousia on the left. Joseph in the very background. This was the family home on Church Street! The smell of delish food cooking in the house, Italian being spoken around us. This was a true snapshot of our childhood! Just lovely!

Joseph Abosso never legally changed his name from Giuseppe Abossida. He arrived in the US through Ellis Island in 1914. He was 22 years old. In 1919 he marries the girl next door, Josephine Capalbo. On September 22, 1926, while 30 years old Joseph became a naturalized citizen of the United States. By 1930 the couple had 4 of their 6 children. They lived on Church Street, Bradford, RI which was rural and a great place to raise their children. Many of the grandchildren of Joseph and Josephine can remember the large gardens and exploring the neighborhood between the two-family homes made of the Abosso/Capalbo connection. Many of us recall picking strawberries in the summer! Perhaps bring half a basketful in and our faces and hands showing where the rest went. Only mild rebukes, and sometimes laughter were we met with. It was a loving and long legacy to grow up in this family. It wasn't perfect but it was ours.

Josephine Capalbo was born in 1905 at Westerly, RI, and died at Westerly, RI. Family, friend, or fan, this family history biography is for you to remember Josephine Capalbo.
