He served in the army during the Second World War and was awarded the Medal of Honor for jumping on a grenade and saving his fellow combatants thus loosing both his legs. Joseph died of cancer and had a wife : Aileen and two boys : Martin and Michael (Martin has a wife and child too, Michael is sadly passed away)
