2020 marks 20 years since the inception of AncientFaces. We are the same team who began this community so long ago. Over the years it feels, at least to us, that our family has expanded to include so many. Thank you!

Maria Champion Dervish Dancer
This photo was among my grandfather's things. His mother, Julia May Starling, was an actress, and I suspect she was a fan of this woman. My first thought was that they are one and the same, but I cannot tell for sure.
Who is this woman and what was her background?

Mrs. Crockett; Oakland, CA
Handwritten on back:
"Mrs. Crockett"
The only female 'Crockett' I could find in 1900 in Oakland was a Sarah Crockett, born 1847 in Missouri, widowed at the time of the census. Possibly the same woman as "Mrs. Crockett", but I can't be 100% sure.
Photo found in an antique shop in Clovis, Ca. I am not related to the subject in the photo.
