Emily Smith Petticrew
David Petticrew and Emily Smith Petticrew were married August 25, 1836 in Miami Township, Montgomery County, Ohio. They lived on the 300+ acre farm situated on Byers Road and Miamisburg-Springboro Road that David had inherited from his parents, James and Ann Brandon Petticrew. David and Emily were the parents of six children: Ann B., Benjamin Franklin “Frank”, Amanda, James, David Smith, and William John. Emily Smith Petticrew was born December 12, 1813 and died September 5, 1865. David Petticrew was born June 16, 1809 and died on March 28, 1856.
David Petticrew’s parents, James and Ann Brandon Petticrew, emigrated to what is now Montgomery County sometime between 1791 from Hanover Township, Dauphin County, Pennsylvania. They first settled in Franklin Township (now in Warren County) and ultimately lived on a nearly 500 acre “plantation” in southern Montgomery County from the Warren County Line between Woods Road and I75 and north to include both sides of Byers Road. James Petticrew was born April 26, 1761 and died April 29, 1821. Ann Brandon Petticrew was born June 7, 1776 and died October 23, 1831.

Ann Brandon Petticrew was first child of David and Emily Smith Petticrew. She was born September 1, 1837 and died October 6, 1880. She married David M. Fox born July 15, 1836 son of John Jr. and Catherine Fox.
