Laura Smith was born 19 Oct 1873 in Haralson Co. Georgia to William Harvey Smith and Sarah Evelyn Sewell. She married Robert Alexander McAlpin 12 March 1905 and died 3 June 1968 in Anniston, Alabama. Children L to R: Clarence, Fred,Eva,Lena,Bruce,Ed,Carrie,Olin and Vesta.

Robert Alexander McAlpin was the son of Thomas Jefferson and Eliza McAlpin. His first wife Missouri Caroline Hughes died 1897, they had 5 children; 2nd wife Margaret Minnie Sterling died 1902, they had 2 children and married 3rd wife Larua Smith 12 Mar 1905 and had 6 children. Robert McAlpin died 1 Mar 1917 from a logging accident.
