Was principal of Elkmont High School, Elkmont, Alabama for 25 years. Married Jane Worsham Dawson on June l4, 1958. Had no children. He loved horses, and raised Tennessee walking horses for years. He was 6'2" inches tall, and he loved sports, especially college football. He graduated from Hampshire High School and received his B.S. and M.A. from Middle Tennessee State University, Murfreesboro, TN.
