2020 marks 20 years since the inception of AncientFaces. We are the same team who began this community so long ago. Over the years it feels, at least to us, that our family has expanded to include so many. Thank you!

She married 27 Sep 1888 John George Hodges - her sister married the brother of her husband 1st Nov 1887 Richard J Hodges to Marion Josephine Colpoys Macintyre
Both sisters lost a son within two days of each other in 1916 in France during the Great war.
One of Anna's daughters Charlotte - died during the great influenza epidemic in either 1918 or 1919.

During the Great War (1914-18) he was the Rector living at Ardnurcher Rectory, Moate, Westmeath, Ireland. Father of Henry Harold Hodges (Killed in Action 1916) and husband to Anna Maria Gore Hodges. He collapsed on hearing the news of his son's death but carried on to deliver the church service that day.

Henry Harold Hodges was my Grandmother's younger brother. He served in the 7th battalion Leinster Regiment. He was the son of a church of Ireland minister. He was killed in action on the Somme 13th of July 1916 aged 21. The family story is that his father on hearing the news his Father who was about to lead a church service, collapsed but picked himself up and continued to lead his church service. His cousin (their mothers were sisters and I believe their fathers were brothers) Eric Colpoys Hodges was killed two days later at The Somme.
