After Esther's death Kennerly md Mary Eliza Kelso, Cherokee lady and family housekeeper. They moved to TX around 1876, and died of yellow fever, on the same day, in 1888, Grayson Co., TX, apparently after being exposed to yellow fever while waiting to cross the flooded Red River with a herd of horses and cattle being transferred from the Chickasaw Nation to Texas.

Children of the second marriage:Oscar Dobyns;Charles Kinley Dobyns;Infant son, d 20 Feb 1875, bd Center Grove Cemetery, Cambridge, Story Co IA. (gravestone photo available);Joseph Marion Dobyns;David Fletcher Dobyns;Viola Gertrude Dobyns' and
infant child, b abt 1887, d 1888, of yellow fever.

The orphaned children, except for Oscar, left Grayson Co. to work on the Holmes Willis cattle ranch, Chickasaw Nation, Indian Territory. Son, Charles, worked on the this and other ranches for several years to support younger siblings.
