Last of her Tribe
She was the last living member of her Tribe the CALIPODIA and her name was Lize. The photo was taken in 1910 in Brownville, Oregon.

I have no idea where I got this photo from, I just have always had it. I do not know who she was, and who took the photo. I felt it should be shared if she were the last of her people, she should be remembered!

Mattie was very proper, she had High Tea every day, dressed and prepared herself for visitors. Her parents were: Liberty Wellington Butler and Permelia Polhamus "Pamela". She was an upstanding citizen of Littleton, Colorado and is buried there along side Robert Deloss Haight her husband and other family members. She was born in Spring Water, NY as best we know.

Burnt down prior to 1926, RATLIFF family ran it prior to that. Had Three floors,
main was dining and family quarters, 2nd was the rooms, 3rd was gambling and drinking.

date of photo maybe as old as 1894, per other photo in same collection. Signature at bottom, taken from back side of photo. bought at Estate Sale, Spokane, Wa. family said to have been Bert Ashman, and O'Dell, they were Welsh. That is all I know.

Hargisville was a small post stop (the family considered it a small town)in Colorado near Kiowa. It was named after the families settled there and Paris Hargis was the postmaster. This photo was in the early 1900's.

The man on the left was called Thurman he was a cousin of some degree to Joseph 'Joe' RATLIFF on the right. JOE was the son of Joseph and Francis RATLIFF. He was born in Florence, Williamson County, Texas. By 1900 moving to Woodward,Indian Territory and some time bet. 1907 - 1909 he moved to Shattuck, Ellis County, Oklahoma. His wife's name was Elsie Gail ROGERS. I know nothing of Thurman's history only that my mother cut her first teeth on his gun holster.
