Day was born in, 1824. He appears to be in his late teens, dating it between 1841 and 1843. the plate is in a, Shew, case from, 123 Washington St., Boston, which, Craig's Directory, gives as a, late 40's, address.

Ebenezer Mitchell and grandaughter
Ebenezer Mitchell & granddaughter. Ebenezer, died in, 1852, before ambrotypes were made in the U.S., so this has to be a later ambrotype copy of a Daguerreoytpe. The grandaughter, Ida, also died a short time after the image was made. Ebenezer's son, Eben, had two daughters he named, Ida, both of whom died in childhood.
