Rock Springs Daily Rocket-Miner, Dec 15, 1979 HOBERT SHOOPMAN Military graveside services for Hobert Shoopman, 82, of 5239 Highwood Drive in Kearns, Utah, were conducted at the Paul J. Wataha Memorial Park Friday, Dec. 14 by the Rock Springs American Legion Archie Hay Post No. 24. Mr. Shoopman died Dec. 11, at Holy Cross Hospital in Salt Lake City, where he had been a patient for two days. He had been in ill health for the past several years. Mr. Shoopman was an Army veteran of World War I and a retired coal miner. He and his wife, Agnes, owned and operated Shoopman’s Café on Center Street until 1955, when the couple moved to Utah. He was a member of the First Baptist Church. He was born on March 14, 1897 in Tennessee and married Agnes F. Guinn at Clarksville, Ark. on Aug. 3, 1919. He came to Rock Springs in 1936. In addition to his parents and his wife, who died on Feb. 4, 1978, Mr. Shoopman was preceded in death by a son, Millard, a Rock Springs police lieutenant and a grandson, Ron Henderson. He is survived by two sons, Robert M. Shoopman of Paramount, Calif., and John C. Clark of Seattle; a daughter, Mrs. June Henderson of Kearns; a daughter-in-law, Marie Shoopman of Rock Springs; ten grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews, including Mrs. Edith Nelson of Rock Springs.
