2020 marks 20 years since the inception of AncientFaces. We are the same team who began this community so long ago. Over the years it feels, at least to us, that our family has expanded to include so many. Thank you!
Carl was born and raised in Mississippi and was admitted to USMA in 1932. He studied there for 2 years and returned to his home. He moved to Arizona sometime before world war II and enlisted in 1942 in the US Army. He served in the european theatre as a Tech Sergeant and was involved in D-Day operations. He was seriously injured sometime in 1944 and returned to the United States to recuperate. He returned to Arizona and began a long and successful career in the banking industry. He first worked for Valley Bank of Arizona and then moved to the First National bank of Arizona where he rose to the level of VP and notably 1960 was tasked with computerizing the banking operations, which was only the second bank in the world to do so. As a result of his success in establishing the computer systems of the bank he was placed on a national banking committee for forward planning. He was instrumental in establishing drive thru banking and the creation of the mastercard credit card system. He also had input into the creation of modern ATM machines. He was married to Billie Burrow and father three childern, Lance and Kent, twins born in 1949 and Jan, born in 1955. He died at that age of 85 years in Saltillo, MS.
