About me:
I am trying to find out more about my Whitfield family. John G. Whitfield (Born in N. C. about 1770) married Kizzia Rutledge (born GA. about 1785). It is thought that John died in 1850 in Tennessee and Kizzia is thought to have died in Izard County, Arkansas in 1863. They came from Rutherford County, TN which later became Cannnon County. In 1850, their family was listed in Cannon County, TN as; John Whitfield, age 80, Kizzia, age 65, Allen, age 24, William, age 20, and Coleman, age 18. From there the story gets fuzzy or has at least 2 versions. Maybe the most common is that their son Coleman Porter Whitfield, born 1832, married Jane Hively and they had children David, Jackson, and Nicey Ellen. Coleman died in 1870 of smallpox and was buried in Cresswell Cemetery in Pineville, Izard County, Arkansas. Jane remarried several times and moved with family to Garvin County, Oklahoma where she died in 1920. Native American ancestry was evident in this family and it certainly appears that Coleman Porter Whitfield's family was the source.
About my family:
I haven't shared details about my family.
