2020 marks 20 years since the inception of AncientFaces. We are the same team who began this community so long ago. Over the years it feels, at least to us, that our family has expanded to include so many. Thank you!

The memories below are shared with the permission of Laura L Charles, Charles Hendryx granddaughter, the photo and information shared is not public domain, I am sharing this information because i can not stand it when folks who are well meaning don't have a clue about the person they are entering My memories of my grandpa .... In Our Hearts We thought of you with love today, But that is nothing new. We thought about you yesterday, And days before that too. We think of you in silence. We often speak your name. Now all we have is memories, And your picture in a frame. Your memory is our keepsake, With which we'll never part. God has you in his keeping. We have you in our heart. Born to Minor David and Ada (Green) Hendyrx, it is hard for me to refer to Grandpa as Charles or Chuck, so you will just read Grandpa Growing up Grandpa had been told that his mother died when he was 6 months old from a spider bite, the truth was while she may have been bitten by a spider her official cause of death was pneumonia, and grandpa was about 15 months old when his mother passed away, Grandpa served he country United States Army in World War II My grandpa was my first introduction to baseball (The only sport i will watch or am interested in) Grandpa to some looked scary or mean, he never was, This was the only grandfather i was close to growing up and I truly thought the moon and stars were in the sky because he put them there, for many years i wouldn't believe anything else, yeah he could be loud and like everyone's parents or grandparents he did some things that caused you to question him, and his reasons, but you know what I loved him and He loved me and that is that Grandpa loved his tractors, His paying job was with operating engineers in Los Angeles, California, Grandpa also loved is antique's both collecting and selling at the saugus swapmeet in Saugus, California Grandpa had two favorite songs, Swinging on a star and You are my sunshine He suffered a long illness, he passed at his home with grandma by his side
