Emma was injured at work when a coworker placed a large cone that held thread on her chair at work as a joke. Emma did not see the object and sat on it. She injured herself badly which brought on an early labor and and birth. The baby was born bruised and injured by the cone, and she died shortly after birth. They did have time to baptize her before she died. The baptism was performed by her mother's father, Fred Meyer. She was buried in Jacksonville East Cemetery beneath a stone created by her grandfather Fred Meyer.
