Now retired, living very happily in the hills of Arkansas. Floyd was one of the angels that God placed in my life when I needed it.

My mom's side of the family is Swedish (and still lives in Sweden) and she instilled in me lots of Swedish heritage and traditions which has made me who I am today. My dad's side of the family is German and Irish and the most likely the side of the family I get all my freckles from. Family is so important, and welcome everyone to discover more about them, their history, and share about their loved ones who make up the history of who we are!

I graduated from Buckner Home in Dallas (16 class members) and came to Baylor in the fall of 1960 (2000 incoming freshmen). Tommy and I became friends about a month into the semester. I went home with him to his family in Dallas about 3 times that semester and I liked Tommy. We did lose touch after that because he joined a fraternity and moved to a different dorm, but I will always remember his willingness to include me during that turbulent first semester.

Marie was a Soroptimist and worked as an office manager for a company in Dallas. I met her while working at Camp Soroptimist (for handicapped children) while I was a student at Baylor back in the early 60s. She knew I needed money (I had no parents) and she offered me a job to deliver frozen turkeys and hams for Thanksgiving and for Christmas for her company. She was a driving force for the Camp and she liked people who weren't afraid of work. Her husband Charlie was a projectionist for a major theater in downtown Dallas and he was a good guy as well. RIP both Marie and Charlie.

Floyd Edsel Morrow of Mount Enterprise, Rusk County, TX was born on April 8, 1925 in Erick, Beckham County, Oklahoma United States, and died at age 70 years old on January 7, 1996 in Tyler, Smith County, TX. Floyd Morrow was buried at Shiloh Cemetery in Rusk, Cherokee County.
Floyd was my sponsor when I was at Buckner Home in Dallas 1958-1960. I was able to visit him in Mt Enterprise several times and I loved Mr Walter and Ms Willie, along with Leona (general house cleaner and very good cook). I was able to attend Baylor on a scholarship and was able to visit a couple of years until his older sister decided I might be cutting into her kids' inheritance. When Floyd passed on, my wife and I came to Mt Enterprise from Plano Tx, and this same sister let me know I was not to sit with the family. Fortunately for me, Floyd was much more welcoming than Mabel was. I did not expect anything from Floyd, which was a good thing since Mabel made sure I received nothing :-). Floyd gave of himself while I was at the orphanage and the first couple years at Baylor, and that was more than enough. Floyd also gave Christmas presents every year to a lot of kids in the Mt Enterprise area who would not have received any... a lot of people came to the funeral just to say "thanks" one more time. He donated a building in Mt Enterprise so the town could have a library. He was always willing to lend a helping hand to a lot of folks in the area, and most never knew where the help came from (but I suspect, they probably figured it out). RIP, Floyd, you made a big difference in my life when I needed it, and you will never be forgotten. I'm now 81, so I may be joining him within the next few years.
