2020 marks 20 years since the inception of AncientFaces. We are the same team who began this community so long ago. Over the years it feels, at least to us, that our family has expanded to include so many. Thank you!

Margaret Memering was born in 1861 at Germany, and died at age 58 years old in 1919 at Indianapolis Indiana. Family, friend, or fan, this family history biography is for you to remember Margaret Memering.

Francis J Mattleer was born circa 1836 at Alsace France, and died at age 69 years old in January 1906 at Indianapolis Indiana. Family, friend, or fan, this family history biography is for you to remember Francis J Mattleer.

Florence was the daughter of Francis J Mattler, attorney and Margaret Memmering, born in Indianapolis, Ind. I do not know where she attended college. She was a teacher at Shortridge HS, Indianapolis, until she resigned March 1910, to marry Dr Frank J Dinnen. The Dinnens were a prominent Ft Wayne, Ind family. I believe they divorced around 1919. There were no children. Florence then entered advertising. She was with a retailer in Ft Wayne, Cleveland I believe, LS Ayers- Indianapolis and finally May Co- Lord and Taylor. Florence was a first cousin to my husband's great grand mother Louisa Mattler Toner. Louisa's father was Peter Mattler. Her parents Peter and Eve, Lafayette, Ind divorced and Louisa was raised by Stephen Mattler, an uncle in Indianapolis( 1870 census). Florence was from her father's 3rd marriage. 1/2 sibs from the first marriage of Francis J were Emma, Frank and Stephen- Lafayette. Louis Nape born 1870 from the 2nd marriage. Florence's full sibs were Carl Casper, Anna Warrum( married Henry Warrum, attorney for United Mine Workers and daughter Helen Marie Warrum Chappell- opera singer), Mamie Mullally- husband was a jeweler and Lenore Trueb- married Albert Trueb- died in her 40s sometime in the 1920s and lived at 1225 Ditmas in Brooklyn. There was also Bert- owns property in St Pete and Mt Clemins near Detroit. None of the children from Florence's full sibs had children other than Lenore. Lenore and Albert martin Trueb had a set of twins born about 1907 in Cook Co. The twins were named after the parents. Albert Jr married Mattie( Martha Sue) Hampton from south Ga. I believe he met her in White Plains. They had no children. Mattie died in Baton Rouge as did Albert Jr. However, Albert is buried in a military cemetery in NJ. Florence may have been baptized in Indianapolis. Many Catholic Churches are no longer existence, however, St Johns would probably have records. Florence's father Francis J immigrated from Alsace Lorraine in the late 1840s. His sibs were John - dies 1861, hotel owner in Indianapolis, Peter- my husband's line- no info after a 1867 Indianapolis directory, brother Stephen- died 1911 and sister Mary Mattler Weighlein- had maybe 12 children, died in Covington, Ky. One of Mary's son prospered and started the Monarch Carriage Co on Spring Grove in Cincinnati and brass co, served on Cotton States and the German Brighton Bank in Cincinnati. I believe it appears the will o Florence ( a trust) was mishandled and the attorney disbarred.. His name is Levine- I found by googling. A trust was set for for a Catholic organization and Columbia University. If anyone can help provide an obit or grave for Florence Imogene Mattler, it would so be appreciated. I have no photos of her. Their is a wedding write up in the Indianapolis Star Apr 1910
