2020 marks 20 years since the inception of AncientFaces. We are the same team who began this community so long ago. Over the years it feels, at least to us, that our family has expanded to include so many. Thank you!
Sidney trained for 3 years at The German Motor Manufacturing Co. Ltd in Belgium (Rolls Royce?) before World War I. Sydney departed for Australia from London 21 May, 1914, and arrived in Melbourne. Ship name: Commonwealth. Sidney joined the Australian Army as a Driver, with the Tunnelers Corps in World War I and was discharged in 1920 with Post-Diphtheric Paralysis. On the Australian War Memorial site, found on First World War Nominal Roll Page - AWM133, 49-058: "11973 DVR Sprinz Sidney Richard 3rd Tun Coy 29/2/16 R.T.A. 28/8/19" His address after discharge from the Army was 6 Lyons St S, Ballarat, Victoria, Australia.
