Do not know much about the picture. But do know it is a picture of the Valley Merchant Junior Football Champions 1930. The 7th male back row left to right is of my grandfather Homer Leslye Hinkle. He was 16 years old in this picture. The blurred out face of the young male in the middle back row is in the original picture.
Anyone knowing the other young men, or the correct place, please email me Lisa at [contact link]

James Madison Hinkle Sr. was born January 4 1831 in Buncombe, North Carolina, died July 20, 1909, Whitley County, Williamsburg, Kentucky. son of William & Susannah (Treadway) Hinkle. Laid to rest in Piney Grove Baptist Church Cemetery, Whitley County, Williamsburg, Kentucky. The land the church & cemetery is located on was donated by JAMES MADISON & MARY "POLLY" (TAYLOR) HINKLE, James 2nd wife. James was a Pvt. and played the fluted while serving in the The Civil War Co., E. 32ed Kentucky Vol. Infantry Regiment. Enlisted December 24, 1862 to August 12, 1863.
As for when the picture was taken, I am guessing somewhere when he enlisted or there after the Civil War, but really not sure. If anyone knows for Just Let Me Know.

2020 marks 20 years since the inception of AncientFaces. We are the same team who began this community so long ago. Over the years it feels, at least to us, that our family has expanded to include so many. Thank you!
