GJ Edgins, 1838 to 1890
Jeff Edgins (GJ Edgins), was among the first to fire a shot in the Civil War (at Fort Sumter, South Carolina). This is an article from an Alabama newspaper circa 1950 about GJ Edgins, a member of the battery to fire the first shot of the Civil War.
