Died in Mqabba on the 11th of April 1942, 2 days after helping his Daughter in-law (Theresa) and two young Grand children Joseph and Grace to the shelter,. they had almost made it to safety when he received shrapnel wounds in his back while Carrying Joseph past an opening in the building
