Robert Blough

Harold's main interest was electronics. He became interested in Amateur Radio at a young age and became one of the first licensed Amateur Radio Operators in the U.S. Harold quit high school at age 16 and worked on a road crew for the B & O Railroad. At age 19 he got promoted to Tower Operator at the B & O tower on Des Plaines Av in Forest Park. He later worked as a radio repairman for the Sears store on Harlem Av in Oak Park and then as an electronics repairman for American Airlines at Midway Airport in Chicago. During WW2 he became a radio operator for the Army Air Transport Command and flew as a flight crew member from 1942 through 1945, flying supplies from New York to England and North Africa in DC-3s and C-47s. It's at this time that he met his wife Mary and they married in 1945. After the war Harold opened an appliance store in Forest Park and ran it until 1971 at which time he and Mary retired and moved to Deltona Fl.
