News Article posted in the Sacramento Bee on 08-16-1959 stated that Bernice was involved in a traffic accident at Franklin Boulevard at 11th Avenue. Bernice, who lived at 3708 46th Avenue, was driving a vehicle when she struck a pedestrian, Sarah Hicock, age 69, of 3901 12th Ave. Sarah was treated for a fracture of an arm. Bernice said she was blinded by the lights of oncoming traffic and could not see Mrs. Hicock in time. The police did not issue Bernice a traffic ticket for the accident.
