Loving father and mentor. Fled Austria in 1937 during the Nazi annexation of that country. Came to Kansas City with little more than the shirt on his back. Tried to enlist in the U.S. Army and after receiving U.S. citizenship was drafted in the Army Counterintelligence Corps. Decorated WWII veteran (Bronze Star). Married Liesel Madd, nee Bloss in Frankfurt, Germany in 1948. Had one son, Ronald Christopher Madd, born 1952.
