Gordon Winfield Dinsmoor was born to Clyde Dinsmore (1897 - 1944) and Amy Grace Tanner (1897 - 1980). His father was born in Pennsylvania and his mother was born in Michigan. He had one brother, Walrath Albert Dinsmoor (1926 - 1995).
Gordon Dinsmoor married Toba Lee Casanov (born 1921) in May, 1940. He then married again in July of 1965 and they divorced in January of 1969. He married a third time to Katherine Dora Slaughter (1933 - 2012) in June of 1985. His last marriage was to Bette Jayne Roen (1922 - 2006) and they had four children: Carole, William, Gordon, and another daughter.
