My dad, William B Schiermann (right side). He told me that he was a cook in the army. I believe that he had seen the horrors of war and wanted to protect me from that. As a child, I found a spent mortar round that no doubt came from this launcher, as well as this picture of him on a mortar team. Despite what this picture represents, he was a peaceful and loving person. I miss him completely.
