Hans Neilsen Hauge memorial
I have a picture showing an apparent dedication ceremony for a monument to Hans Neilsen Hauge (a Norweigan reformer for the Lutheran church of Norway)
A Christian-Emil Ore, faglig leder
Dokumentasjonsprosjektets etterorg./Museumsprosjektet,
Universitetet i Oslo
translated the inscription:
word by word translation (it is a litle bit archaeic Norwegian):
Give your church men and women
which are Thou and Truth faitful
HANS NEILSEN HAUGE reformator in the Norwegian Church
born 1771 dead 1824
Norweigians in Amerika erected
him this memorial
1912
and a corrected spelling
"giv din kirke mænd og kvinner
som er dig og sandhed tro
HANS NILSEN HAUGE reformator i den norske kirke
FØDT 1771 DØD 1824
nordmænd i amerika reiste
HAM DETTE MINDE
1912"
My grandmother, Anna Lerum Udseth, was born in Green Bay, Wisconsin. One of her sisters, Emma, married a Rev. M. K. Aaberg, who may be in the picture. Last known residence was Greenwood, Wis. Anna later settled in South Dakota where she met and married my grandfather, Rasmus Udseth.
I would like to find out where this monument is and any information about the event. Thank you
