In the 1940 federal census, Alan was 17 and living with his parents Adoph (sic) age 62, a surgeon in private practice, and Leola B. (Brandeis), age 45, in Hillsborough California with siblings John (18) and Robert (10) as well as servant Helen Laughran (37). Alan was a student in the 3rd year of high school.
When he registered for the World War II draft on June 30,1942, Alan was 19 and living in Stanford California. He was a student, 5 feet 7 inches, weighed 135 pounds, had blck hair and blue eyes, and a light complexion. His next of kin was Dr. AB Baer of San Mateo California.
In the 1950 federal census, Alan was living by himself in Florence, Nebraska and employed as an assistant manager at "Louis Sports".
