Douglas Charles Atkinson Great grandfather of my husband Birth 1852 in Kilham, Yorkshire, England Death 10/12/1913 in Karang Victoria Australia Marriage to Emma Dinnora Marks in 1885, Age: 33 Kerang, Victoria, Australia (formerly Miss Marks, of Crusoe, near Bendigo) He was adopted by Dr. H. L. Atkinson, of Bendigo, [on special request] after his father's death in 1886. His father was Thomas Parkin Atkinson MD [2nd great grandfather of husband] Born abt 1833 in Kilham, Yorkshire, England, died 17 Mar 1866 in Kilham,York,England aged 33. After the death of his father, Douglas came to Australia as a boy and was educated at Bendigo High School. He assisted Dr H L Atkinson as dispenser for several years before moving to Kerang. He then conducted a successful chemist's business in Kerang for over 30 years and died 10th December 1913 He had One daughter & two sons... Queenie, Charles Douglas [our grandfather] also a chemist Kerang and Jack Parkin Atkinson, who died at Somme in 1917
