William Riley Wilson was born at Bordertown, South Australia on 3/4/1937. He has published his autobiography in two volumes with Kindle Books, titled " An Exciting Life- Not without Drama". This publication covers his entire life from his birth and early years on a large broad acre farm at Apsley, Victoria, and traces his rather eventful life on the farm and his subsequent years as a school teacher, school principal, an Irrigation District Director, a Financial Counsellor, a horticulturalist and recipient of the Bicentenary Medal for services to the Community. The narrative explores his experiences as a teacher, a dairy farmer, an adviser in education and irrigation. Also explored are his adventures in the Northern Territory, his experiences as a school teacher, his appearance as a witness in The Stolen Generation court-case, his involvement in a murder-suicide involving a mother and child, his "fortunate escape" relating to the shocking Sundown Murders in 1957 and many other dramatic events, many of which were beyond his control. Also included are his experiences as a builder, having designed and built three homes for his wife of 59 years and himself.

Ernest Wilson was born to Joseph Wilson and Elizabeth Martha (Riley) Wilson, and has siblings Harold Riley Wilson, Norman Garnet Wilson, Arthur Frederick Wilson, Leslie Addison Wilson, and George Healy Wilson. Norman's parents were farmers at Wannon in Victoria. His Grandfather, George Healy Riley was one of the first settlers in the Wannon district. George died in 1873 and is buried in the old Cavendish Cemetery. Norman had at least 6 brothers and a sister. One brother, Leslie Addison, was killed in action in France in1916 aged 19. Another brother, Arthur Frederick, was gassed and wounded in WW1 but survived. He was awarded the Military Medal for gallantry. He married (wife unknown), moved to Hamilton where he died in 1927. George Healy Wilson, Normans eldest brother was killed in a farming accident in 1895 aged 18 years. Norman's mother, Elizabeth Martha died 19th August 1898 aged 40 years. She and George are buried in the same grave site in the Old Cavendish cemetery. Harold Riley Wilson, my grandfather, married Mary Margaret Pettitt, moved to Apsley and became manager of Benayo Station. Norman's father remained in Wannon till at least 1934, but cannot discover anything about his life after he collected his dead son's effects after WW1. There was another brother Ernest, married to Hilda. They lived in Melbourne near Norman. I can remember visiting a sister in Melbourne, but cannot recall her name.
