Stephen Douglas Phay
Stephen Douglas Phay was the son of Stephen Rowley Phay (1824–1867) and Rebecca Crawford (1824-1915). He was born on March 12, 1861 in Dayton, Montgomery County, Ohio, USA and had siblings Elon James Phay (1847-1911), John Phay (1850-1935), Ella Phay Whitney (1855-1907), and Emmeline E Phay Zentz (1859-1915). He went by his middle name "Douglas" most likely due to the fact that his father's name was also Stephen. He married Ella Keziah Hollingsworth (1862-1937) on April 19, 1879 in Marshall, Iowa. They had two children together June Helen Phay Bloom (1884-1952) and Ralph Douglas Phay (1889-1947). Stephen Douglas was a policeman in Pendleton for many years and also served as Night Marshall in Hermiston, Oregon

I want to build a place where my son can meet his great-grandparents. My grandmother Marian Joyce (Benning) Kroetch always wanted to meet her great-grandchildren, but she died just a handful of years before my son's birth. So while she didn't have the opportunity to meet him, at least he will be able to know her. For more information about what we're building see About AncientFaces. My father's side is full blood Sicilian and my mother's side is a combination of Welsh, Scottish, German and a few other European cultures. One of my more colorful (ahem black sheep) family members came over on the Mayflower. He was among the first to be hanged in the New World for a criminal offense he made while onboard the ship.
