A woman sitting on her porch plucking the Thanksgiving turkey while a man looks on. Oh yes, Thanksgiving is women's work!

Look at the pile of feathers at her feet - then look at how much of the turkey she has plucked. This must haven taken hours. And you have to get all the pinfeathers, too. I like today; go to a store, buy a naked turkey, stick in the oven!

Marcia Worthington On top of all that, you have to dunk the bird in hot boiling water before you can pluck the turkey and boy does it smell, smell bad, and it is a lot of hard work. I have done a lot of chickens with my Aunt, but only one turkey with my Mom. My sister tried to make a pet of it and on Thanksgiving Day my sister would not eat any of the turkey.

Kathy Pinna What a neat memory of Thanksgivings past, Marcia! I've never done more than taking the pin feathers out of a chicken - and that was really tough! Your poor sister! ; )
